Calcific Tendonitis / Osis / Bursitis

  • Calcific Tendonitis/osis occurs when one or more of the tendons in the shoulder forms a calcium deposit
  • bursitis is inflammation of the bursa
  • a bursa is a fluid filled sac that runs underneath certain areas of the muscle to allow them to move and contract properly
  • both conditions can often have no known cause
  • there is often a decrease in the shoulder range of motion and strength, due to the pain these conditions cause

How Angela Simpson Physiotherapy can help:

  • using hands on manual therapy and/or acupuncture, to help alleviate some of the pain
  • educating the client on positions of relief as well as movements that will aggravate the condition(s)
  • showing the clients posture positions and exercises that will help restore muscle balance to the shoulder girdle which may help relieve the pain, prevent the condition from getting worse, and often assist in the recovery of the condition
